Good bet for the $

I bought this flight simulator only for the controller and down loaded another software package. It works well. I'm happy with it.

E-SKY simulator training kit

by charliebravo from on 2010-08-22
I use the simulator controller along with clear view flight simulator. The flight simulator disc that came with the product is not as good as clearview but is better than nothing when learning the basics of RC flight. The controller is a good tool and gives a good hands on feeling of a real controller and clear view is decent flight simulator program with good graphics for the money. I would recommend this controller to others as an affordable option along with clearview flight simulator which is about $35 if you are just getting started. It is a good bargin if you don't have the money to spend on the higher end simulator packages such as Real Flight and Phoenix.

great simulator

by Paul Durocher from GREENVILLE, RHODE ISLAND, US on 2010-07-14
I would recommend this to anyone learning to fly, its great to practice and you do have not to worry about crashing and having to spend money in repairs.

Most fun I've had in years

by fr33z3r.burn from on 2010-07-13
If you are even remotely interested in RC planes or helicopters, I encourage you to buy this product. I have been playing with it for several months, and I love it. Setup was easy, and there are youtube videos that can help you if you have problems. The cd that came with mine was scratched, but thats no biggie because you can download the FMS simulator from several different websites. Yes, the FMS program is very basic and beginner, but it is loads of fun and there are hundreds of models you can download from all over the net. I eventually purchased another simulator by the name of Clearview, and this controller works just fine with that program.

Good Simulator - Does The Job

by NatureBoy 66 from on 2010-07-12
Straight forward, no frills simulator. Does what it is supposed to without all the frills that make others much more expensive. I had never flown before and used it to practice and get confidence so i wouldn't crash the real thing. The software that comes with it is pretty widely used and there are several web sites that will allow you to download the exact model type of your actual rc plane and sim with it. If you have never flown rc before, you need to use a sim WITH AN RC CONTROLLER like this one because you need to get used to the small control movements, trimming and most importantly flying towards yourself (where the left-right movement is reversed).Bottom line - i had never flown rc planes before, i got this sim, i downloaded the plane type i had (parkzone j3 micro cub) and practiced with it for about a week, i flew my first, second, third flight with no crashes and now i am hooked on this exciting hobby.

Phoenix Flight Sim + Spektrum DX5e

by Geohack from on 2010-08-26
Excellent delivery time. Ordered and received in a couple of days. Complete package - I expected a shipment of two but it is a bundle. Very happy with the products. Thanks!DISLIKE the large amount of styrofoam (expanded foam) packing. _Everybody_ should nag sellers/shippers when they use excessive amounts of plastic and non-recyclable materials for shipping and packaging! Retailers *should* provide for disposal or return/re-use of packaging.

This is not a toy!

This is not a toy but a sophisticated training tool. I have been out of RC for over thirty years and this allowed me to relearn my skills without expensive crashes.

Paid for itself in 15 minutes!

by Steve 63 from TULSA, OKLAHOMA, US on 2010-02-23
I bought my son a RC trainer for Christmas. He and I took it to a park to fly it one day. we had no control. I can not count the number of crashes we had. There was probably 50 dollars in damage to the plane from that first outing. the longest flight was MAYBE 15 seconds.I decided to purchase this RC Flight Sim. Every crash we had was financially painless. We both put in a few hours on the simulator. We took the plane out two weeks ago. It was the first day without snow or high wind. Neither of us were aces by any means. We were able to control the plane, take off and land safely. I have no idea how much money I would have flushed down the drain repairing his plane if I had not purchased this sim.I chose this Phoenix sim because it comes with a nice radio. I will get a plane of my own and use this radio that came with the simulator. this way, both my son and I will be able to fly at the same time. I highly recommend this product if you are thinking about getting into RC flying. i would purchase this and learn to fly before even buying my first plane.

It is fun using this!

by Amir Soheili from Orange, Ca on 2010-08-01
I got this controller. The software that comes with it, does not run on Vista and Windows 7, but it is ok, it is easy to find the required DLL and make it worked. The first night that I worked with, I found that the graphical user interface of the software is not good. I purchased the $40 ClearView software and everything is great now. The controller works easy and the software is great. I got the six channel controller, for me, the four channel was enough, but for extra $5, it was ok.The product was delivered fast. There was one review that says the controller works in a reverse way. it was right, but you can change a setting in the software and make it work easily.

cheap sim

by Brian J. Weber from 303 on 2010-06-10
this model sim is pretty good, doesn't run well on newer systems i.e vista, windows 7. I believe there is a fix for it to run of vista though. There aren't many aircraft on the original disc but some are available from their website. Also there is a really helpful fsm forum i used to troubleshoot. If you have problems I would recommend looking it up. The controller is great but the software is pretty much crap. I would say spend the money and get a better one

Flight Simulator a bad choice

by Heather Brown from Townville, PA USA on 2010-02-08
This flight simulator was a cheap toy; the controls were upside down and backwards, and not only did I have to pay ridiculous shipping to get it and find that it didn't work right, I had to pay even MORE shipping to get it back to the company and had to beg them not to charge me the "restock" fee of 15%. Be sure you read their policy very carefully, the only way they DON'T charge the 15% is if it's unopened or you beg them not to charge it...had they charged me that stupid idiotic fee which I think should be illegal, I would have been out about $40; as it was, I'm out $11 for nothing.

Awesome R/C flight Sim

by Francis Stepanski from Virginia, USA on 2010-04-16
Real Flight G5 is a great sim.. I really like the new controller which allows menu controls. This feature allows me to control menu options form the controller a very handy feature when connecting my laptop to a big screen TV.. The teaming of Knife Edge forums [...] and Real Flight opens discussions, support, additional aircraft and flying fields etc.. Overall a super great deal..

First time R/C simulator

by Fred from Texas from Texas, USA on 2010-03-15
This is my fist simulator. I bought it to see if I liked R/C flying. The simulator has a R/C controller similar to the actual. The software loaded easily. The system is easy to learn and with practice you can learn to fly. It is amazing how easy to crash. The trainer has taught me that before I buy an actual R/C plane, I need to be able to operator the trainer well. I recommend this product.

Weak Link - the interlink

by South Dakota RC from on 2010-02-12
I bought this in late December 2009 (no through Amazon), ran the install and thought it was great. In early February the trim control for the ailerons quit working and made using the controller virtually worthless. A real run around from GreatPlanes - I need to send the controller back, they'll inspect it, try to repair it and then if they can't fix it - will send me a new one. Would be good customer support if they would send a replacement controller out to replace the defective one, and the customer returned the defective device in the box the replacement controller arrived in. This would take alot of the uncertainty and "what ifs" out of the equation - like, how long will it take to ship, inspect, try to repair, ship back, etc.. This is what you could expect if warranty was needed:To get your defective RealFlight USB Interlink Controller serviced under the product warranty agreement, you will need to send your USB Interlink Controller to the following address: Hobby Services 3002 North Apollo Dr Suite # 1 Champaign, IL 61822 Please remember to include a brief letter describing why you are sending in your USB Interlink Controller, in this case, to have the defective device repaired or replaced under the warranty agreement. Once your package arrives, we will repair or replace your defective USB Interlink Controller for you and ship the device back to you, all at no cost to you, as this is a covered service under the product warranty. Also include in the letter your name, address, and phone number in case we need to contact you for any reason regarding your request. Normally we don't. Additionally, please remember to ship your package to us with a tracking number and/or return receipt from the shipping company you use. This will give you the means to follow up on what happened to your package should it not arrive. We are not responsible for your package until it arrives here for processing.

I ordered this program so I could learn to fly an RC plane before purchasing an actual plane. It only took a few days to get to my house, but as I am an impatient person, I also kept searching and found a downloadable program that offers a free trial. When I did get the program and tried to install it onto my computer, I could not get it to work. I have Vista, so as a previous reviewer stated, maybe I needed to install a patch. I am not much of a computer person so could not figure it out. I was able to open the program and view the available models (and I was not impressed)but could not get the program to fly any of them. Since I didn't have an RC remote to hook up to the computer, I did use the ESky remote and it works very well. As far as the actual programs, I really like the program that I downloaded very much. It is called ClearView and has a large variety of planes, helis and even a few cars (but the cars are cheesy). It also has several realistic flying sites and playgrounds. It cost $40 tor the full version but I think it was worth it. Like I said, I feel the purchase was worth it for the remote to hook up to the computer, but the software gave me problems because my computer has Vista. I highly recommend Clearview as far as software goes and especially if you already have a cord to connect an existing remote to the computer as it is an instant download and has a really good variety. Hope this is helpful to others.

Great simulator but needs better software

by Richard E. Zwiesler from Downers Grove, IL on 2009-09-20
I run this program with Windows XP so I had no problen installing and running the program, however you do need a good graphic card installed to use this product.I enjoy using the Esky simulator. I have had RC flying experience so it was rather easy to use. A beginner to RC will have a lot of crashes but with a little practice they can overcome this. After all, it's better to crash on the computer then at a flying field with the real thing, a lot cheaper too. The difference to using the simulator as to being at a flying site is your angle of view. Using the simulator you have to fly low at half throttle to see obstacles, the horizon and where to land the plane. That can be rather difficult compared to actual flying at a flying field. The software included is rather poor and simple and only has a couple of planes you can actually fly. I didn't try the Helicopters as they don't interest me. I would suggest purchasing a add on simulator program with added planes and backgrounds. For the price I would recommend this product. I cannot see how a more expensive one would do any more for you. Amazon delivery was great. And last: The simulator is very useful during the winter months when your not flying as it keeps you in practice at the controls for the next flying season.

Good sim but no ground breaking software

by crazyTERMINATR from Wisconsin, USA on 2009-03-03
It is very good at teaching u how to get used to the feel of an rc airplane or helicopter. However the program is very basic. With a patch i am able to run it on vista but for some reason it has no sound and i can only fly in the first area. But anyway it fullfils its purpose and thats about it.

Phoenix RC is GREAT!

by Ross Voorhees from Wichita, KS on 2010-04-19
While the Realflight G5 or basic is better known as the premier RC flight simulator, it truly has nothing on it's primary competition, Phoenix 2.5. In fact, many people, myself included, think this sim is better, especially for learning to fly Helicopters. Phoenix also shines with its models, over 100 from major manufacturers like Parkzone, Esky, Hobbico, and E-Flight are included, and the best part is that new models are being made all the time and are free to download. So are new flight fields. No more expansion packs! Downloading is done through the sim itself and are automatically installed as well, so you won't ever have to open folders and manually install new models or scenery.Graphics, sounds, and flight physics are superb...it's easy to forget you're flying a sim. You can download a demo that shows you just how incredible this sim looks at phoenix-[...].

owner review of Great Planes RC flight simulator basic

by LMT from on 2010-08-08
I found this item to be very useful before heading out to the flying field. The graphics are sharp and clear and you get a choice of over 30 aircraft including trainers, warplanes, an airliner, copters. You also get a choice of several flying fields. The split scree image is a very useful item in that it allows you to see your craft close-up when you are in flight and the plane/copter is off in the distance. You can make close-up corrections that are the same as the plane in flight. It is very smooth and easy to operate. It is very sensitive however as you are limited to the size of your computer screen so turns are fast and you have to have a very light touch. This is probably good in that the actual flying is wide open and not nearly so sensitive but you do have to contend with wind conditions. Overall it is a VG flight sim. They have one installed (same kind) at the museum in Osh Kosh and many hobby stores as well.

Wonderful Product!

I bought this for my husband who wants to get into RC helicopter flying. He gets on his computer and flys and laughs most evenings. He has flown RC planes before and says that the program is just like flying a plane. I can only assume that the helicopter portion is as good. I'm thankful for the program because he gets to practice without having to pay the money to repair or buy and helicopter. Great job!

RealFlight Sim is pretty real

This radio control model airplane flight simulator should not be confused with a video game or video toy, if there is such a thing. It is instead a high fidelity flight simulator designed to expose novices and wannabees to radio control flight without having to buy a real airplane and accessories. While good quality radio control models are not for the faint of heart or pocketbook, the RealFlight sim costs only about $100 and when you crash any of the dozens of RealFlight models, it costs you nothing more than the push of a button to get back into the air. The sim comes with a faux transmitter with proper controls and functions that plugs into a USB port on your computer. The models, photo-realistic flying fields and such are loaded via a single CD. Instructions are scarce, so it may take a while to learn all the controls if you are unfamiliar with RC modeling. All but one or two of the airplanes and helicopters included in the sim are actual RC models available from any reputable hobby shop. They perform, fly and sound in the sim exactly as they do in real life. Even the inevitable crashes are accompanied by very realistic and satisfying sound effects. While the sim is a learning tool for RC pilots, it is also good, clean fun and a great stress reliever. There are no points to earn, no aliens to shoot, no riddles to solve and there really is no endgame, but the very real satisfaction you feel after bringing your model back from a flight for a perfect landing is more than a fair exchange. I'd recommend this sim for anybody old enough to understand how to use the transmitter controls. I'm 60 years old, BTW, have been flying models and the real stuff most of my life, and I love it. I try to fly a couple of different airplanes very day.
